This Privacy Policy explains what personal information EgoLead (the Platform, we, us) collects, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account data: when you register we collect your email address or phone number, a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), and the community handle you choose. Content you provide: community posts, channel submissions (name, contact details, optional company link, and remarks), and hardware listings. Technical data: log data, IP address, approximate location, device and browser information, and cookies or browser local storage used for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and remembering your language and theme.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to operate, secure, and improve the Platform; to authenticate you and maintain your session; to publish and display listings and community content; to detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and spam; to respond to your enquiries; and to comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases
Where a law such as the EU/UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on one or more of these bases: performance of a contract (providing the Platform you request); your consent (where we ask for it); our legitimate interests (operating, improving, and securing the Platform and preventing abuse); and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Service providers
We use trusted third-party processors to run the Platform, including Supabase (authentication and database) and Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, and security). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you authenticated and to remember preferences such as language and theme. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear this data in your browser, though some features may then not work.
6. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it.
7. Your rights and the anonymous community
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. To exercise any right, contact us using the address below. Community posts are shown anonymously to other users, but they remain linked to your account internally for moderation and abuse prevention.
8. Security
We and our providers use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Children
The Platform is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by a notice on the Platform. Your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
